MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol that lets AI models connect, in a standardized way, to external tools and data sources such as files, databases, APIs and business applications.

By replacing bespoke, one-off integrations with a common standard, it lets AI agents work with a wide range of tools securely and in a reusable way. The number of services that support it is growing.
