METHODOLOGY

Data & methodology

The AI share, usage and Popularity Score on this site are reference values based on public data and editorial research. For transparency, we publish our sources, definitions and update policy.

A. About data reliability
Market share is saved from StatCounter's public data as monthly snapshots, with source and capture date noted. We do not have an LLM fabricate figures, and we publish the formula for the Popularity Score.

1. Core data principles

Figures (share, ranking) are imported from public sources, saved to a database as monthly snapshots, and displayed with the source and capture date shown on screen. We never publish AI-estimated figures as-is.

2. Types of metrics

Our current primary metric is market share (based on web-referral traffic via AI chatbots). It does not fully represent the “usage rate” across all users, and rankings change when the measurement method differs.

3. Data sources

4. AI Popularity Score formula

Our proprietary “AI Popularity Score” is a transparent weighted average using only stored data.

AI Popularity Score = market share 55% + 3-month trend 20% + feature coverage 15% + free tier 10% (reference value, 0–100)

Tools without public market-share statistics (e.g., Grok) are treated as “awaiting statistics” in the score ranking, and reflected as soon as share data becomes available.

5. Update frequency

Market share is updated monthly; pricing, features and news are updated as needed. Each month's share is kept as an archive, so we can continuously provide history, month-over-month change, and fastest risers/biggest drops.

6. Caveats on interpretation

These rankings are reference values based on public market-share data, web-traffic estimates and editorial research, and do not represent a complete count of every user of each AI tool. Rankings change with the measurement method (web-visit share vs. market share, etc.). Always check each official site for the latest information.
